What You Think....

We love hearing from our members - it's one of the best bits of the job for us! Here's the latest selection of comments we've had:

"I enjoyed Triumph of the Sun by Wilbur Smith; it was a typical Wilbur Smith book with strong characters and an adventurous plot. The setting was Khartoum under siege from the Mardi's armies and its defence by General (Chinese) Gordon. All the other characters were I suppose fictional but the book did give me an insight into what happened in this famous piece of history. If you like Wilbur Smith and historical fiction you will enjoy this book". Ian, West Yorkshire

"I am a big fan of Bryson; I own many of his books some in both regular as well as audio book form. African Diary is the story of this visit along with the charity CARE International to some of their projects unsurprisingly in Africa. As always Bill tells a good tale but it is a very short book the profits from which went to CARE. It lasts for just over an hour meaning that it didn't really do what I want an audio book to do which is pass the time during one of the many long car journeys that I frequently make. My advice, buy the book the profits without doubt go to a very worthy cause, however as a method of passing away any length of time it came up well short" Ian, West Yorkshire

"Just have to say that this is a wonderful service. Not only do I get more books with your higher end package but the service works like clockwork. I pop a book into the post box and in a matter of days back pops the next on my list. As I'm up to my eyes in work at the moment I can only say how much I wish that other services worked this smoothly!" Catherine, South Oxon

"Liza Picard is a fantastic author. It would be wise if she stuck to writing instead of doing the voice over, she was quite dreadful. It was like listening to someone writing a shopping list! However I am a keen historian so I forced myself to listen to it all. What a difference Tony Robinson makes to the Terry Pratchett book I am currently listening to. It is fantastic. The long journeys go so quickly. Please send me any more Terry Pratchett books that you get." Alivia, Leicestershire

"Anita Shreeve was a new author to me but I would recommend her to anyone else who has not tried her books". Esme, Buckinghamshire

"I thought the ending [of Archangel by Robert Harris] was not very good. It was as if it was missing a chapter!" Alivia, Leicestershire

"Charlotte Gray by Sebastian Faulks is a brilliant book. I was totally mesmerised by its amazing description of war time France. It really brought home what it must have been like to live under the German occupation. Stunning! and it was AudioBooks4Hire that gave me the chance to find this super 'read'. Normally I am reluctant to risk wasting time on a book that may not be improving, but as AudioBooks gives me back lost time I have every excuse to indulge and experiment, trying out all kinds of different books. I even get the time now to 're-read' old favourites. Thanks, AudioBooks!" Catherine, South Oxon

"That John Grisham sure can pen-them!  I really enjoyed listening to them – I’ve been meaning to read the books for ages but just haven’t had the free-time. So thank you for making it possible for me to catch up". Jayson, Bedfordshire

"Brilliant service – I’ve stopped using my local library now that I’ve found you.  Just love getting the audio books sent direct to me". Clive, Essex

"It’s great that I don’t have to shell out loads of tenners for CD books that get listened to once and then gather dust. But, you need to get more of Alan Bennett’s books in!" Carole, Essex

"I did enjoy the book very much.  Sorry it took so long to send back to you!" Andrew, Gloucestershire

"I particularly enjoyed the Bill Bryson book - it was really humorous and made my two hour car journey whiz by!" Clive, Essex
